This article covers our Shared Hosting services. If you have a Managed VPS or Managed Dedicated Server please contact our support to get access to your backups.

We store a backup of your entire cPanel account for 30 days. You can access your backups at any time via our cPanel interface. You can restore all or part of your account or you can download your data for archival purposes. Below are instructions on how to access JetBackup.

  1. First, login to cPanel by following these instructions here.
  2. Next, scroll down to the "Files" category and click on "JetBackup 5". (You can also use the search bar in the top right to search for "JetBackup 5")

How to download/restore all account files:

  1. Within JetBackup, click "Full Backups".
  2. Click on the backup you want to use.
  3. In the bottom left choose Restore or Download. (If you choose Restore, your website will be unavailable for a short time while the backup is restored to your account. This can take up to 30 minutes for large backups.)
  4. On the next screen you can choose which items you want to download/restore. If you are restoring everything, leave everything selected and continue in the bottom right.
  5. You'll be taken to the Queue as you wait for your backup to be downloaded from the Ark. After it is downloaded it will either be restored or provided to you as a downloadable file depending on your selection.
    • You can access your downloads for 7 days on the left side bar. (It is the cloud icon with the down arrow.)

*Note: For partial backups select the type of backup you are looking for instead of "Full Backups" then select the items you wish to restore.

How to use your downloaded file:

Your downloaded file will be in what is known as a "tar ball". This file cannot be opened by default in Windows or Mac. To open this file you will need a program such as WinRAR or 7zip. We recommend 7zip which is free and open source. You can download it here. Below are instructions on how to unpack your file using 7zip and Windows 10.

  1. Right click the .tar.gz file after installing 7zip and hover over 7zip then click "Open Archive".
  2. Inside the archive you will see a .tar file. Double click the .tar file to open it. (This will take a moment as the .tar file is unpacked, you may see a loading bar.)
  3. You should now see a backup folder. You can now drag and drop this backup folder to anywhere on your computer.

File Structure of your backup file:

  • archivename.tar.gz
    • archivename.tar
      • backup
        • certificate (Location of all certificates on your account.)
        • config (Contains various config files along with cron jobs.)

*Note: Your backup folder may contain additional folders based on the data contained within your account.
